ShearShare CEO Elected to the Professional Beauty Association Advisory Council

Dr. Tye Caldwell becomes the first Black male to join the beauty industry’s leading association

Dallas, TX, October 26, 2020 – ShearShare, the largest provider of on-demand salon and barbershop space rentals worldwide, today announced that its cofounder & CEO Dr. Tye Caldwell has been newly elected to serve on the Advisory Council for the Professional Beauty Association.

The association has endured a 100+ year evolution. From its beginnings as the men’s-only Beauty and Barber Supply Institute in 1904, to the esthetician-focused National Cosmetology Institute, to today’s leading producer of the most widely recognized events in beauty, PBA’s journey has helped to transform the beauty industry.

“The PBA’s voluntary Board of Directors and Advisory Council Members play critical roles in helping the Association oversee strategic planning and initiatives, endorsing legislation, lobbying, and staying up to date on industry-wide issues,” shares Dr. Tye Caldwell, cofounder & CEO of ShearShare and a 30-year beauty and barbering industry veteran. “Most recently, the PBA collaborated with California’s Office of the Governor to create salon reopening protocol. To be part of the beauty industry’s leading association’s government affairs program is timely. I’m thrilled to add my perspective and to serve as the first Black male in PBA’s 100-year history.”

Steve Sleeper, Executive Director of the Professional Beauty Association, says, “We welcome Dr. Tye Caldwell to the PBA’s Beauty Professional/NCA Advisory Council. The PBA has always been blessed to have amazing volunteers who put in tons of time and energy and commitment. We look forward to his great leadership and guidance. Congratulations to Dr. Tye for being newly elected.”
