Capital Factory, along with Google for Startups, Sana Benefits, Baker Botts, and DivInc, will be hosting the Women in Tech Summit to kick off Austin Startup Week.
DALLAS – Oct. 3, 2020 — Together with Capital Factory, Google for Startups, DivInc, and others, ShearShare today announced its participation in the 10th annual Austin Startup Week, to be held virtually from October 5-8, 2020. The five days of events showcasing the local startup community will
include women leaders, entrepreneurs, and allies in tech who support and invest in diversity and inclusion focused primarily in the Texas and Austin area.
The opening keynote speaker for the Women in Tech Summit is Courtney Caldwell, cofounder & COO of ShearShare, the largest provider of on-demand salon and barbershop space rentals worldwide. The fireside chat will be moderated by Nancy Fechnay, Executive-in-Residence at Austin-based Notley Ventures.
“Austin Startup Week is a strong signal that the local startup community remains as resilient as ever,” says Courtney Caldwell, cofounder & COO of ShearShare. “With 2020 being ‘the year of the pandemic,’ it’s important that we focus on supporting each other, removing any barriers, facilitating connections, and sharing resources as we collectively find a way through this time as a community.”
“We are honored and proud to co-host this summit because it represents the unleashing of the economic potential and power of women entrepreneurship through collaboration. It’s about providing equitable
opportunities for women who are the fastest-growing entrepreneurship demographic in our nation. I am so proud of Courtney and the ShearShare team, because I can remember them in their early days, then winning
the Capital Factory/DivInc $100K investment challenge which helped accelerate their growth. We want thousands more Courtney’s. That is what this is all about!!!,” says Preston L. James, II, CEO & cofounder of DivInc.
“[COVID-19] is a global pandemic and affects every person, every industry, every business, and there’s so many different ways to look at it,” says Joshua Baer, cofounder of Austin Startup Week and founder & CEO of Austin-based accelerator Capital Factory. “Our community is so involved in the response and we’ve got lots of startups that are big parts of the solutions.”
