ShearShare, a mobile app that lets licensed cosmetologists and barbers rent professional space to work by the day, was awarded Judge’s Favorite at Google Demo Day alongside FinTech startup Increase. In addition to winning the award, the two companies have received a $250,000 investment commitment from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest (ROTR) seed fund.
Founded by Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell, ShearShare connects salon owners to 1,000,000 stylists to fill empty salon chairs on demand. With ShearShare, salon owners increase their revenue by 3X on unused space they already have, and stylists save an average of $175/wk in overhead costs.
The startups are nominated by partners within the Google for Entrepreneurs partner network. Google teams carefully selected 11 startups based on the strength of the team, execution and traction, and their growth potential.
Startups who have pitched at Google’s past events have gone on to raise millions in funding and several have been acquired by leading companies including Glassdoor, Vista Equity Partners, and Circle.
