TDLR’s Response to Hurricane Harvey Disaster

Hurricane Harvey has brought unprecedented devastation to our fellow Texans. Everyone at TDLR is prepared to serve those in need in any way we can.
In response to the disaster declaration by Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is implementing fast-track licensing procedures for all eligible TDLR licensees located in the affected area. * The procedures will help them recover as quickly as possible and return to work. The procedures are scheduled to take effect Friday, September 1, 2017 and will remain in effect for the duration of the declared disaster period and any extensions. Procedures include:

  • License expiration dates automatically extended. All licensees in the affected counties currently in the renewal period will have their license expiration dates automatically extended by 60 days.
  • Late fees and license replacement fees automatically waived. TDLR will waive renewal late fees and offer replacement licenses at no cost for all eligible licensees in the affected counties.
  • Continuing education (CE) requirement automatically waived. All eligible licensees in the affected counties may renew without completing continuing education requirements.
  • Extended grace period for expired licenses. Licensees in the affected area with licenses expired beyond the usual expiration limits will be allowed to renew.

*The affected area includes the following counties: Angelina, Aransas, Atascosa, Austin, Bastrop, Bee, Bexar, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Colorado, Comal, DeWitt, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Grimes, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kerr, Kleberg, Lavaca, Lee, Leon, Liberty, Live Oak, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Polk, Refugio, Sabine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Trinity, Tyler, Victoria, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton, Willacy and Wilson counties.


TDLR licensees in the affected areas can email to receive expedited assistance with questions, license renewals, replacement licenses, plan reviews, and inspections, or call 1-800-803-9202 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Please identify the program you are calling about and have your license number ready.
